The first day of May started with Drew's soccer pictures.
He wouldn't smile, but he is still so cute! Then it was down to UW to
watch Debbie row on the cut. Her boat won their race and Deb got a nice
commemorative watch, it was the first time ever that UW didn't win the
race. Suffice to say Deb was quite happy. The kids had a lot of fun playing
between races and while waiting for the boat parade to start for Opening
Day. Before we left for vacation, we caught a Mariner's game and took
the requisite photos.

Drew had a Mother's Day show at preschool. He actually participated a
little more this time. Cute pictures ahead! ![]() |

The first part of our trip was to Pullman to see Debbie graduate from
Washington State University. We did the usual things, like eat at Taco Time,
get out all the toys at Dan's Mom's house, feed the kids Oreos, and dinner
at Dan's Dad's house. Debbie is now a real adult now, she has a job with
Wells Fargo in the Tri-Cities. We are quite pleased as now we can see her
more often! ![]() |

On the road to Cali. Here are some as we made our way from Pullman, WA
to Windsor, OR. Nice scenery but not high on excitement. We of course ate
at the first In N Out Burger we came to in Redding, CA. Dan just loves that
place (no pictures of that, sadly). ![]() |

Our first full day in San Francisco was the Zoo. It is right off the Pacific
Ocean, so it is really windy down there. We were of course thinking this
is California so there we were in t-shirts and shorts. And we were freezing!
In the sun and out of the breeze, it is comfortable, but in that breeze
it is cold, cold, cold! It is funny, everyone else (the locals) were in
long pants and long sleeves. Nothing says tourist like the freezing crazy
Washingtonians! The Zoo was pretty good, but a lot of the exhibits spaces
were old style and not built well for the animals (as compared to Woodland
Park Zoo in Seattle). The SF Zoo was doing a lot of work to make it
better, however. We of course did the carousel, which both kids really enjoyed..

Day 2 in SF - First the kids played around at the condo for a bit. After
the 60 mile drive down and across the Golden Gate Bridge we did some of
the sites, starting with Lombard Street. Drew just loved driving down the
crooked street. Then we went up Coit Tower and got some good photos. Next
was Fisherman's Wharf. We got some fresh fruit, Drew and Gen rode the double
decker carousel, we took a bunch of pictures, and watched the sea lions.

Of course we hit the local ballpark, this is Pac Bell (now SBC) Park in
San Francisco. Oakland was out of town, so we didn't get to see the A's
in the Coliseum. This is a great park, we just didn't stay very long after
doing the tourist thing all day and then being underdressed for the game.
Brrrrrr! Next time, we will dress warm and the kids will be older. Drew
loved this park, see why

Another visit to Fisherman's Wharf and this time we took a boat tour of the Bay. We got our best photos of the trip by far on the boat. It was great and not bumpy at all. Alexa really wanted to be able to walk around, but we held her tight so we didn't have to take a swim in the Bay. Not sure if it really possible to get any more pictures of SF onto one page, take a look! |

We visited Chinatown on our way out of SF. We walked around and looked at the stores and had a nice dim sum lunch. Drew really enjoyed lunch. Then it was a 4 hours drive to Angels Camp where we would be staying for the next two nights. The traffic was terrible, since it was only about 120 miles long. We really liked the condos we stayed in. Every place was stocked: full kitchen, DVD players, washer/dryer, gas BBQ, 2 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. |

On this Saturday we hit the Calaveras County Fair and Frog Jumping Jubilee. Yes, this is the same place Mark Twain got his start. This was a cute little town and we had a lot of fun despite the heat. We watched the frog jumping for a while, then took in some fair food, and let Drew do the rides. He really liked the haunted house, I think he went 4 times in a row. We would like to visit here again and spend more time in the future. |

We got to see Deb row in the Pac 10 Championships before we headed home. We are glad we finally did it. It was too bad we couldn't come back for Nationals to watch her again. |

Drew had his second ever dentist visit and he was great. Then he had his first ever outdoor soccer game. This kid is growing up way too quick. |

More cute pictures, such a shock, eh? Watch Alexa start some trouble in the kitchen. |
