Hiking out to the lighthouse

A Slice of the Beach

Closer view looking South

Barren tree - there is some wind here

More Beach

Peeking out as we approach it

Check out all the waves on their way in

Lighthouse Number one

Looking North from the Lighthouse

Despite the Lighthouses, this area of the sea is called the Graveyard of the Pacific because so many ships have sunk at the mouth of the Columbia River

More ocean

Driftwood

The lighthouse we hiked to is atop the cliffs in the distance

The waves

Notice that blue thing on the ground near Drew; that is Dan's kite not flying so well!

Drew flying his kite

The Princess atop some driftwood

We came upon a deer

It was munching on some leaves

Lighthouse #2 - this one is on the Southern part of Cape Disappointment

The rock wall protecting the Ilwaco Harbor

It is often cloudy here

Cool clouds

Waikiki Beach is on the other side of the cliffs - not that one! You cannot even swim here because of the swift undertow to say nothing of the water temperature

Beautiful sun on the ocean

Looking across the Columbia River Bar - which consistently has the worst conditions in the US for boating (The Coast Guard has their rough water training school here)

We saw the deer again on our hike back down from the lighthouse
