The median between the two gravel roads in front of our house is a bit of a problem, as it fills up with water when it rains a little hard. Granted, the past 3 months brought us more rain than the area had seen in a while. The water initially tore into our bark beds and then hit the driveway. The bark then threatens to clog the drain in our driveway. We caught it once before the water lapped up upon our garage. One night in Mid-December the drain actually barely could keep up with the amount of water coming in. This was even with the small ditch I dug to carry the water towards the creek and away from our driveway. The house at the end of our road actually owns the road and we have an easement that allows us to drive on it to our house. I am not sure how the responsibility falls, but I sure know I do NOT want my house flooded when it could totally be avoided. I am guessing that renting a ditchwith and putting a pipe in on my own might upset the people that own the road. Maybe the city can make them take action? These pictures were taken several hours after it stopped raining on 12/27/2006. Next time it rains hard and the water starts burying my driveway drain I need to remember to take pictures before I clear the drain. I normally have to re-dig the first part of the ditch nearest the driveway about once a month as it gets flattened by cars and the rain.

The path the water takes to our driveway drain

The water took away a lot of the bark to the left of the wood

Down the road towards the neighbors and away from 9th Ave

Down it goes

It's about 3 feet deep in the middle

The second ditch I dug, this time across the road to go from the puddle direct to the creek. Supposedly there was a pipe that used to go under the road, but it is caved in and/or plugged
